The Westin St. Francis is a luxury hotel that overlooks Union Square in San Francisco. It offers luxurious rooms and suites, a top-rated spa, and great dining options.
We received excellent service from the staff. They were very friendly and flexible. We wanted to run a quick errand before checking out and weren't sure if we'd be back in time for check out. No problem. Both luggage stewards were fun and professional. The room was clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. Valet parking was effortless and rather reasonably priced when compared with other options. We're looking forward to our next stay.

Before I give details about this 3 star review, I love staying at the Westin typically. If it weren’t for the overly accommodating staff at this property I would have given this property a 2 star review.Let’s start with what was good- the location is fantastic. The front desk folks and cleaning staff were so friendly and helpful. That’s about it.For the price, this hotel needs tons of maintenance. In my room alone there were several issues like ripped up carpet, mysterious and disgusting stains on the wall and a shower that filled up past my ankles during my shower. At a four star hotel, I don’t expect perfection but I do expect the rooms to be properly maintained.

My recent stay at the Westin hotel was extremely disappointing. Despite charging rates comparable to a 5-star hotel, the hotel felt more like a 2-star property in terms of its amenities and service.Firstly, the hotel charges a daily $29 "destination fee," which in my opinion is a total rip-off. They make it difficult to spend and get value for it. The options to use the fee are limited to the hotel bar, room service, or the coffee shop. However, the bar is tiny and crowded, with long waits to find a table to spend the fee. Room service is priced high, subject to additional charges and had waits of up to 1.5 hours, and the food options are limited. The coffee shop also charges high prices, and you have to wait in a long line to get your order.Secondly, the rooms were awful and depressing. The fifth-floor room I stayed in was poorly lit, with no overhead lighting and only old bedside lamps that did not provide adequate illumination. The rooms had a musty smell and desperately need renovation.Lastly, the hotel's service was subpar. They make guests queue for water at the front desk, which often had no staff available unless you were a premium member of their points program. It was frustrating to wait in line for basic amenities that should have been readily available. The hotel's amenities were hard to use, with the only positives being the location and gym. Overall, I had an awful experience at this Westin hotel, and I would not stay at a Westin again after this experience.

I had an Exceptional Experience thanks to the Excellent Customer Service provided by Elaine at the Front Desk! My room was extraordinary! It had a view of Union Square! It was so perfect that I didn't want to leave. I did though! I took the Trolley (Easy to get on right in Front of the Westin at the Corner) to Fisherman's Wharf, and the Train at Union Square to the Giants game! I definitely recommend The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square.

Historical building over 110 years old. The lobby has the monumental wow factor. Quite grandeur and the appeal of being the best hotel in San Francisco enhances your stay. Each time you walk in the lobby you can smell the light but fresh aromatic sweet fragrance they release in the vents. Pamper yourself and use the valet, you will enjoy it! Enjoyed the room service. The rooms were spacious and clean, however it is dated. As a Marriott member, it definitely needs updating to maintain the “Marriott Standard”. The location is centralized to all of the shopping downtown, Union Square, Fisherman’s Wharf, Restaurants, Chinatown, Passport renewal. All walking distance from the hotel. Coming from Sacramento escaping the heat, I enjoyed my stay and will return.

The best way to see SF?stay at the Westin and you’ll get exactly that. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are large and very nice. The location is simply unbeatable. The clock bar is charming and very elegantAnd so is the restaurant,But fear not,Because if you are into breakfast,Their cafe has some of the best pastries around. The ambiance is just conducive to rest and exploration of this beautiful city.Union square is just downstairs and everything is at reach.Absolutely fantastic stay!

This hotel has a lot of character because of the historic nature of the building. The lobby is filled with artifacts from the building’s past, which I thought was interesting to look at. The staff were friendly and check in was efficient. The rooms are updated and have an elegant look with the small chandelier. My only complaint was with the size of the bathroom. It was honestly the smallest bathroom that I’ve ever had in a hotel. It felt submarine sized. When using the shower, one shoulder touched the shampoo bottles on the wall while the other shoulder touched the shower curtain. Maybe I was just in a one off room because the bathrooms pictured on the hotel’s website don’t look like the confined space that I had. It’s also worth noting that homelessness is on the rise in SF and it was common to see panhandlers and people sleeping on the sidewalk just outside the hotel. This isn’t anything within the hotel’s control but it’s something to consider if you’re from out of town.I had a difficult time finding food inside the hotel. There is a small spot in the lobby with a limited menu, but I was looking for something with more options for grab and go meals. It would also be nice if they could upgrade the coffee options in the lobby, as the line was pretty long in the morning.Overall, this is a nice historic hotel in a central part of San Francisco. It’s a pleasant option for your next visit to the city.

Make sure to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴏʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ when booking your resort. This web site will compare hundreds of booking websites and typically will have rates much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of my favorites in the area. I've been coming here for years. If you decide to stay here you for sure won't regret it.We are just finishing an 8 night stay for our first vacation since the pandemic began. On the whole, this is a wonderful hotel.

This location is great for visiting San Francisco. But we were really disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. When we arrived, there was a dirty glass sitting out in the hallway beside our door. There was trash from the previous guest in the ice holder. The bed had no fitted sheet. We requested one and it was brought up and put on the bed. But the housekeeper (who was very nice) explained that most of their king sized sheets don’t fit correctly but that she found a bigger one for us. I think this is absurd. The Westin doesn’t have proper king sized sheets?! For the amount that we paid for this room - we were very unimpressed. I won’t spend money there again. The staff we interacted with were incredibly nice, professional, and friendly however. The gentleman at the front desk was great as well.

This spacious hotel has plenty and also little bits of everything which all come together to make a great experience. Centrally located in Union Square so I can walk or take a train to anywhere I desire. The cafe in the lobby also served fresh pasta dishes, which I found quite delicious on a rainy day. Also, as a bit of a history buff I love how there are display cabinets and signs in the lobby showcasing the history of the building.Last but not least, thanks to Herman for the smooth and easy check in process. He even gave me a complimentary upgrade for my room, so cool of him! My first time in San Fran and this hotel has left an everlasting impression.

Beautiful hotel with great service! We were in a junior suite on the union square side and it was absolutely gorgeous. The service was great and room service was fast. The cafe downstairs also serves delicious pasta (much to my surprise!) Definitely will be back. The pricing is comparable to the Hilton but this hotel is much much better in my opinion

One of the nicer hotels I have stayed at. Great location for shopping and finding a nice place to eat etc. Hotel staff was nice and helpful during our entire stay. Rooms are beautiful and clean. You can smell the blossoms as they have flowers in the lobby all year round. I recommend it, it is right in the heart of downtown and Union Square. Will stay here again.

I am staying at the Westin for Dreamforce (paying around $1400/ night… crazy!) I noticed that one of the elevators had an expired certificate in 2022. Then, I got on another one that had an expired certificate back to 2018 - 5 years (this is a very old building). See picture attached. When I called, they said that it’s not correct they are all up to date. I told them that it still makes me uncomfortable and feel unsafe and the “managers” Ben’s response was, “did you make it to your room?”Truly remarkable. Apparently customers feeling safe is not a priority at this hotel. If you want elevators that have up to date safety certifications or caring employees this is not the place to stay.

Beautiful hotel (beautifully decorated lobby), Central location, rooms were clean, beds were comfy! The cable car stops directly in front of the hotel, which is convenient, but it is usually crowded before the hotel stop. I was becoming a bit worried prior to my arrival after reading some of the reviews regarding the “homeless” population and about the area being “sketchy.” We never felt unsafe in the area, even walking around after dark. There was a decent police presence all throughout the day and night. Jeff @ the concierge desk was extremely helpful in getting us acquainted with what to see/do/eat in the area and outside of the area! If I ever return to SF I will definitely stay at this hotel !

I’m giving this place five stars but I feel like I stayed in two different hotels during my stay. Part of it was in the older, historic section of the hotel while the other part of my stay was in the new tower. The older rooms aren’t bad, but they suffer from the same problems that all historic hotel rooms do: paper thin walls. And also that they’re relatively small. I also wound up in a room that was right next to one of the elevator banks. I can sleep through anything, so it didn’t bother me, but just be aware that some of the rooms can be pretty noisy if you’re a light sleeper. The more modern rooms I have no complaints about. Our room was spacious, well furnished, and the rest of our stay was top notch. The staff were fantastic as well. Definitely a good visit and I would recommend staying here.

Not what it used to be. My wife used to take me here when we were younger. Here now with our son. Service has gone way downhill. Lobby is under renovation. Staff is over-worked and not very friendly at all, and any notion of “above and beyond” in customer service has flown out the window. Simple example: I left my iPhone charging cable in their restaurant this morning and, of course, it didn’t make it to lost and found. Okay, so the front desk has some chargers in the back. I asked if I could sign one out for an hour to charge my phone while I put my son to sleep, but nope — they were adamant that I leave my phone with them instead. Strange. Clear reminder that this is certainly not the Fairmont, Ritz, or even the Marquis for that matter. What a joke. Rooms need a refresh. Lobby a construction site with pro-union protests outside. Nice giant grim reaper set up on the protest line because they apparently are in a dispute with whomever the Westin chose as their contractor.

Slightly dated room, but everything else is top notch. The staff is super nice and helpful. They charge you a resort fee of $30 but in lieu of that they'll give you $30 food credit, cable car passes, bike rentals, steel water bottles! The location is excellent with Union Square right across and lots of shopping all around.

The Westin St. Francis is our favorite hotel in San Francisco. The hotel is always in top condition and elegant. The club lounge is a fairly new addition that is perfectly furnished with staff that is fantastic! It was a great experience, and we highly recommend itA very exciting new addition is coming very shortly; a new restaurant and bar! We will be back to experience it!We stayed in both the historic building and the modern tower. Both are wonderful experiences, and the beds are as comfortable as you will ever enjoy! This is the place to stay in San Francisco right on Union Square. Perfect!

Prime location (facing the union sq), beautiful room, warm service. The breakfast is really good, served at the beautiful oak room & grab-and-go breakfast is also tasty and has a good value. Amazing hotel. Top notch service. Great view. The room wasn't as clean as I would have expected, but overall the stay was perfect. A small caution on the valet parking. The prices they list are for standard cars only. I drive a pickup and this adds $50 to the price. A 70 percent increase. Also, the valet gets very crowded. We waited in line for 30 minutes to get into valet on Saturday evening.

Right in the centre of town so you expect to pay the big bucks (even if SFO is in a bit of a slump) but to be fair, it really is a great location. The hotel is super spacious it has a good energy; it's busy but in a joyous kinda way. The rooms are good and the staff were able to take care of everything I asked for. Sometimes the service was a little ropey, either slow or staff members appeared confused or irritated by requests; they offered a bunch of added extras (free drink, free cable car ride etc) when I checked in but the staff seemed kinda grumpy when I actually followed up. Nonetheless I had a good time, and side note - don't fall for the chatter, SFO still has a lot to offer!

First room, unfortunately smelled like a smoking room. Front desk apologized and gave me a new room with no problem. Location is great, right on the cable line and in front of the park with shopping and restaurants across the street. Minimal amount of transient pan handlers around the hotel. It’s a pretty good deal for the hotel room and location. I’d stay there again.

Exceptional Service at the Westin St. Francis, Thanks to Jason Sly and Jeff AquinoI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, and I must say, it was an experience my family and I won't soon forget. While I am a Marriott Gold Member, I was treated like a Platinum member, all thanks to the outstanding service I received from Jason Sly at the front desk and Jeff Aquino, the concierge. From the moment I arrived, Jason Sly's warm welcome and efficient check-in process set the tone for my stay. His attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond to accommodate my needs were truly remarkable. It's rare to encounter such a high level of professionalism and courtesy in the hospitality industry, and Jason Sly exceeded all expectations.Jeff Aquino, the concierge, was an absolute gem. He not only provided invaluable recommendations for dining and activities in the city but also ensured that every reservation and arrangement went smoothly. His knowledge of San Francisco was impressive, and his dedication to making my stay memorable was evident in every interaction. What struck me most about this experience was that, as a Marriott Gold Member, I was not only entitled to the level of service I received. Jason and Jeff treated me and my family as if we were their most valued guests, regardless of our membership status. Their exceptional service has left an indelible mark on me, and I am now more compelled than ever to remain loyal to Marriott hotels. The Westin St. Francis itself is a beautiful and well-appointed property, but it's the exceptional staff like Jason Sly and Jeff Aquino who truly make it shine. I can confidently say that because of their dedication and professionalism, I will only stay at this hotel when I visit San Francisco in the future. Their commitment to guest satisfaction is a testament to Marriott's reputation for outstanding service. In conclusion, my stay at the Westin St. Francis was made exceptional by the exemplary service provided by Jason Sly and Jeff Aquino. Their personalized attention and genuine care for guests have earned my unwavering loyalty to Marriott hotels. If you're looking for a memorable stay in San Francisco, this hotel and its incredible staff should be your first choice.

To be honest, I've had so many horrible San Francisco hotel experiences. I kind of forgot. There were actually nice hotels until this day. He was incredibly affordable under $200 a night right at Union square across the street from the Christmas tree and ice skating! Everything is a real throwback to a beautiful time. Marble doorways and bronze elevator doors. Unbelievable decorations and beautiful apartment style. Hotel rooms. All exceptionally well kept and maintained. Nothing is run down even though it's such a beautiful older gem!

What a wonderful stay in the heart of San Francisco. The Westin St. Francis has such a glorious history and keeps it alive with a high standard hotel located in a very vibrant, exhilarating part of San Francisco -- right in Union Square. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Great spot to stay! Everyone at the hotel were very helpful. Valet parking is a bit pricey - $75 a night. But it is safe & the staff are always quick to get your vehicle. The rooms are lovely, great views and a cool elevator on the outside of the building! The breakfast buffet is wonderful, great food options, and very attentive and helpful staff! The lobby was beautifully and extensively decorated for Halloween!! A wonderful stay here!

I appreciate when all staff (no matter their position) interacts with guests. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and welcoming. The bell man and valet staff were gracious and kind. My only reason for not giving five stars was because of the size of the bathroom. The sink was no bigger than a medium sized dinner plate. The bathroom counter was extremely small. So much so that I had to use the toilet seat as an extension of the counter. The toilet was positioned so close to the wall that I had to sit on it sideways (I'm very tall) or my knees would hit the wall in front of me.I will definitely stay again.

PLEASE READ: I stayed here last week and my shopping bag filled with clothes was taken from my room. I filed a claim and was told the hotel is not liable for anything taken from the room because there is no proof that I actually had the shopping bag in my hotel room. It is safe to say that the housekeeping can steal from your room and the hotel not be liable and you are as result out of pocket whatever money you spent on the items. I feel violated and I will never stay at this hotel and I will advise my coworkers to avoid this hotel as well. The hotel staff had the opportunity to make this right and instead threw CA law in my face as the reason they are not liable for items taken from my room.Update: No one has reached out to me since this post.

If you're contemplating on staying at this property, take this as your sign. The Westin was a beautiful property filled with tons of history. During our stay, each employee was extremely helpful and very nice. At check in, Herman provided us with an amazing room and a list of activities around the property. One of our favorite things was the free history tour of the St. Francis which is offered daily at 11AM. As an elite member, your're offered an option of a complementary wine tasting for two or bonus points. We were upgraded to a room on the landmark site and the view of Union Square was amazing! Rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. The Westin lounge just recently reopened for breakfast and limited times in the evening on Sunday. Special thanks to the Westin staff who made our stay memorable: Herman, Antonio, Jose Luis, and the front desk manager who filled in for our tour (Carly?).

I’ve stayed at a lot of Westin hotels, but this was the most unique! I came for a breakfast event and stayed alone. I love how the hotel is a perfect mix of old yet modern. They kept the beautiful architecture of the room and hotel, but added in modern amenities. Everything was beautiful! It’s right across from Union square, which had live performances and a beer garden. It’s within walking to distance to a lot of shopping and restaurants. I definitely want to come back.

I really would not recommend this hotel. Their response to other negative google reviews says it all actually, it is sub standard in almost every respect. Drastically in need of a major refurb both cosmetic and staff. Our room was really not clean, there was a filthy t-shirt hanging over the shower when we arrived and the whole room was grubby. The entire hotel is shabby. We complained and housekeeping came and removed it. We then discovered that the shower gel container was empty. The following day, they turned the beds down but didn’t refill the shower gel or clean the bathroom. Complained again and the person at reception said they’d credit my Marriott account with 5000 points by way of apology. That corresponds to £20…..! I’d expect a little more from a supposed top hotel for being given a room with the previous inhabitants filth. There were 2 (!) teabags in the room - both the same type, but no kettle to make tea with and only take away cups and plastic stirrers. No plugs near either of the beds. No automatic lights in the room so one has to fumble around the lamps in the dark to find the switch. The whole place feels cheap and nasty yet with astronomical prices. Most weird and confusing of all is their odd daily fee charge. The guy who checked us in raced through all the information at top speed, making it impossible to take in or fully understand everything. He gave me a piece of paper with all these supposed perks on, from 2 x free cable car tickets to $30 a day spend on food & drinks. I assumed this was because of my member status. He told me we HAD to use the $30 each day or we’d lose it. On checking out however I realised we’d been charged a daily “destination fee” of $30 and when I questioned it I was told that they charge this amount and then “give it back” in food & drink! What on EARTH is the point of that?? Except of course to confuse guests and trick them into spending at least $30 a day there. Absolutely bizarre and absurd way to do things and quite dishonest I think. This is no longer the grand hotel it still pertains to be. I would never stay here again.

Nothing to complain about. Great hotel. The main lobby is closed, I am guessing for renovation, but the side entrance works perfectly fine. The room seems to be newly renovated. While the hotel was beautiful and the location was great, the prices, especially any food services, were ridiculous. $76 for a small pizza! Our room was spacious, but the bathrooms had no ventilation, no separate heating, the shower/bath was lukewarm at best. The hallways were freezing, so the temperature variation was weird. The staff kept our room very clean, but the Heavenly Bed is a thing if the past...not how it used to be. Huge fan of this place and huge disappointment. I’ve stayed here dozens of times in the last 20 years. Sad. Great location but this iconic hotel is in disrepair. Outdated rooms that smell like stale smoke and mold. 15 min wait this morning for the elevator. Powell street entry closed as is main entrance and bar for apparent update. $32 for a glass of well white Sauvignon Blanc wine! $20 for a scotch. This is in temp bar off the lobby in converted conference room. $400/ night. Marriott continues to destroy the value of the best properties in their stable. Once huge property is now big disappointment.

I was lucky enough to be staying in the hotel on a Saturday. If you are, make sure to leave some time to go on the Westin St.Francis Westin hotel tour. It begins every Saturday at 11am. The guide (Howard) was incredible, passionate and knowledgable with amazing (first-person) stories about the famous clock on the ground floor, glasses that the Queen and Ronald Reagan toasted with, including tales of meetings with Betty Davis and many more. The tour meets at the famous clock downstairs and moves through all the main halls and banquet rooms and one or two hidden gems along the way. As Howard said. When people are arranging to meet at the hotel, they don’t say ‘I’ll meet you at the Westin’, they simply say ‘I’ll meet you at the Clock’. Depending on the speed of the group, make sure to leave up to 90 minutes free so you don’t have to leave the tour early!

We used to love to stay at this hotel. This time we booked the AAA parking included package on their website. In reviewing our bill at check out, I got charged $89/NT for 2 nights for parking. I talked to the front desk and they were rude and curt. They said “your rate does not include parking. Provide us your proof and we will consider it. Good bye.” They have a great asset, too bad the staff service level brings it down to a lower level that does not justify the price. We will stay elsewhere in the future.

I've been here before, and I know the rooms can be boxy and small, so that was no surprise, but when they gave me a third floor, inside room I was a little disappointed. When I got into it though I was really disappointed: the only light filtered in through a single small window that faced directly into the fan of the massive rooftop air-conditioner. Fortunately it was a weekday check in and they were able to change the room to better one, but first one was so bad you had to wonder what they were thinking. The bigger problem was that the hotel is under re-construction, something that wasn't mentioned when I made the reservations, or mentioned on line. That meant that the traditional front entrance was completely sealed off, the restaurant was closed and no lunch or dinner meals could be had on the premises, the hotel bar was relocated to a cozy little speakeasy that you had to leave the hotel and walk to, and there was almost no common area to settle in in any part of the hotel. With all those amenities gone, the effect was similar to staying in an extremely expensive Holiday Inn. Except, at Holiday Inn you can make your own waffles for breakfast.I will not return here in the future. There are plenty of other quality hotels in the Union Square area to choose from.

We stayed in two rooms at this hotel. We kept $600 in the room safe which disappeared on the first day. We talked to the security staff and while we were there everything was kindness and good intentions to solve the problem, once we left they sent us an email saying that they were not responsible for the theft. I cannot understand that a hotel of this chain, which is supposed to be absolutely serious, is not responsible for acts done by its own employees. They opened the safe, stole the money and closed it again. The hotel is very well located and the facilities are correct, but it is impossible for me to recommend it when its own employees are thieves backed by the hotel.Do not stay here if you do not want to be robbed.EDIT: No, obviously I have not been contacted yet.

Not sure of the carpets or what but I really feel uncomfortable and had to leave early and when to another hotel close by. The say wasn’t cool enough and the bathroom was so small I can even put all my toiletries. The staff was very good and helpful, the only thing I like about this hotel is their fitness studio 10/10 they have everything . They they can do something about their room smell or maybe remove the carpets from their room I may visit again.

I wish the gyms in every Westin were as good as this one. I don't want to travel further than downstairs to find a great gym when I'm already tired from traveling, so I appreciate the efforts this hotel goes to. They maintain a great gym, a safe environment inside, and a good variety of food options. Irresponsible local renters who hold no property interest in the city are welcome to live in denial, but outsiders can plainly see that San Francisco is a complete garbage hole right now. I appreciate this hotel providing everything a guest needs inside, so there is no need to risk our safety venturing out amongst the drug zombies.

I stayed there early April 2024 for a week, the hotel had zero cleaning staff. Management refused to work with me. She kept referring me to housekeeping instead of managing. When they did clean, the cleaning was incomplete and the room was still dirty. Dried wine in glasses, no Kleenex, no fresh towels. Very disappointed as I have stayed at this hotel for years. They seem to only cater to airline personnel. Beware booking this hotel.

Nice 3-star hotel with 5-star bones. You can still see the opulence and attention to detail from a past era. Currently undergoing renovations to hopefully bring back its glorious past as the best hotel in Northern California. Upon my arrival, there was only 1 person manning the reception desk dealing with 10 travelers, so it took a good 15 minutes to compete the check-in. There were plenty of other employees in the lobby, but none were helpful opening doors, handling luggage or providing directions. The room was nice and spacious and the beds really comfy, but you can see the age in some details like cracked tiles and peeling paint. There were also noticeable stains on one of the walls, hopefully coffee, not any biofluids. Tip: do not look inside the AC vents, my asthma flared up just by looking

Beautiful historic hotel. I gave it 2 stars because my room, which was 1043, was doll sized. It had to be the smallest room I've ever been in. I could literally open the door from the foot of the bed. I had to turn sideways to get in the shower, and I'm a size 8, 135 pounds. This room must have been 2 leftover closets. However, location location location. You are in the heart of downtown. The bed was comfortable, and surprisingly, I didn't hear any hallway noise. I'll return, but I'll make sure not to get room 1043!

The rooms are definitely more European and on the small side, but they are still nicely appointed. And well maintained. The hotel itself is right off of union Square, which is a transit hub so the location is good too. The staff are OK, nothing exceptional.

The hotel is majestic and located in a prime area were you can walk around. I spend one night and upgraded my room to a suite. However, the suite didn’t have a nice view. I was in the 6th floor room 601. The suite was spacious, clean but nothing extraordinary. The bathroom was okay. The carpet was okay. The master bedroom was clean and good pillows and mattress. The night was okay but we could hear the noise from the street, sirens, people drunk and loud. Receptionist, bell boy and the people that work at the hotel were nice and kind.

Pros:1. The room was decent but not amazing2. The fitness center was above average3. The property appeared nice / lobby looked nice4. Shower gel smelled nice5. They cleaned the room daily, unlike some other properties which clean only once every few days.Cons:1. Waited super long for check in. It seemed like nothing was happening. Same with check out. I usually just have to swing by the front desk for a minute to check out at other Marriott’s to get a printed invoice, but here after waiting several minutes, I ended up checking out online.2. Breakfast buffet was ridiculously overpriced for the quality. At $53 including tip, the selection and taste was no better than free buffets at budget hotels anywhere else in the US. In fact, the overnight oats, which was one of the extras you won’t usually see at free hotel breakfasts, had a dusting of salt rather than sugar on them. Likewise, an omelette would run $50 with tip. In comparison, food from the a-la-carte place was better and better value.3. Gym didn’t have towels on one of the days. Gym benches were worn and torn, yet functional.4. Room was adjacent to elevators. Constant rumbling and banging of elevator/doors kept me up.5. Room had a view of other hotel rooms, rather than SFO itself. Had to keep it shut all the time.6. Room had signs of wear. My soap tray was chipped.7. Some sort of remodeling began the day I arrived, and the main entrance was closed off the rest of my stay. I had to exit/enter from the side doors.

Hotel was great. Service was great, close to shopping, food, we booked here for an early work meeting, also made it a getaway, a couple nice dinners out.Pictures out our room window. Weather was a bit cloudy rainy, but still got to see a lot. A sunny day be better.

So unlike Westin and not worth the money at all. Exposed electrical switch, dirty toilet, non functional plumbing in the bathtub that doesn’t drain water, AC didn’t work and the room never got cold. Overall real bad experience, the only thing we liked was the location.

I booked a room with a view of the tower building through Expedia. Initially, they gave me a room on the 7th floor, but after asking about the view, they reassigned me to the 17th floor. The room condition was quite outdated and overall not very clean. It wasn’t so much a matter of cleanliness but rather that the room was inherently of average quality. The view was nothing special, just buildings visible outside the window. Although the room was cleaned daily, the hallway on the entire floor seemed neglected. For several days, a cocktail glass discarded in front of the elevator remained there, catching my eye each time I passed by.The TV in the room was old and had a delay when changing channels. The windows were also outdated, making them difficult to close once opened. At night, when the lights were on, it became evident that dust had accumulated on the walls for a long time. The carpet and curtains did not feel clean either. The food at the club lounge and the first-floor cafe fell far short of my expectations.Even if the hotel’s concept is that of a historic building over 100 years old, such basic aspects should be managed more meticulously to uphold the reputation of a global hotel chain. I chose this hotel thinking it was the best option in terms of recognition and location, but I was greatly disappointed.

Elegant and historic, yet modernized feel to the room and lounge.Best part was the Westin club lounge, probably the best service and greetings from Uyen I've seen in a long time...seems updated but with historic details with desirable meal and snack selections.Location on Union Square great for shopping and transportation to a variety of destinations through the Geary St bus or trolley north to the Pier. The gym seems large enough to accommodate the hotel, but could be updated in line with rest of hotel. That water dispenser there probably has the most inconvenient touch sensor.

This Westin has a great central location but definitely be aware of the surroundings outside the hotel. Lots of homeless. The inside of the property is beautiful and clean, even during remodeling the main entrance.Rooms were clean, quiet and comfy. Really enjoyed the Destination Fee perks, but you do have to request them from the concierge desk.

The workers, all very kind, seem to be in their 50s-60s, are on strike for unfair wages and no health insurance. I arrived to the hotel at about 9pm to them banging on trash cans, and yelling for better working standards. They do this at night and very early in the mornings. You can hear them on the 14th floor. I can feel their frustration. Hotel didn’t mention anything about this protest, or the fact that they don’t have room service at all. When I order a drink at the bar at 10pm, they have ZERO ingredients. No olive juice, no aperol… plastic cups for wine. The replacement staff are obviously working very hard but seem misplaced and overwhelmed. Dishonest hotel and selfish CEO
